Linking your bank (SimpleFIN)
Connect your bank through SimpleFIN Bridge and keep balances — and optionally transactions — up to date automatically.
Linking is optional — Wuxby works fine with manual balances. But once connected, your accounts refresh automatically, so the forecast always starts from real numbers. Wuxby never sees your bank credentials: SimpleFIN Bridge holds them and shares read-only account data. Access is read-only throughout — Wuxby can read, but it can never move money.
Connecting a bank
- 1Create an account at SimpleFIN Bridge (beta-bridge.simplefin.org) and connect your banks there.
- 2Generate a setup token (choose “New App connection” in SimpleFIN Bridge).
- 3In Wuxby, open Settings → Linked accounts, click Connect a bank, and paste the token.
- 4Map each bank account to an existing Wuxby account, create a new one, or skip it.
What gets synced
Each connection has a sync mode, which you choose. New connections start on Balances.
- Balances — account balances only. No transaction data is retrieved.
- Transactions — posted transactions, including each one’s description, merchant, and any memo text your bank supplies. The first sync backfills the last 90 days.
- Both — balances and transactions together.
Pending transactions are never requested — only posted ones.
How syncing works
- Connections refresh every 6 hours automatically, and any time you hit the refresh button on a connection.
- Linked accounts show Linked bank as their source; their balances are managed by the sync.
- SimpleFIN doesn’t share account types, APRs, or minimum payments — so debt details stay yours to set, and they’re never overwritten.
- Disconnecting keeps your accounts and any synced transactions — accounts simply become manually managed again. To cut off access entirely, also revoke the app in SimpleFIN Bridge.
SimpleFIN Bridge is an inexpensive third-party service (about $1.50/month). The setup token you paste is the only thing Wuxby stores from SimpleFIN — encrypted at rest, and used solely to read the data your sync mode covers.
